Inspired by Colour - Scrap Plezier challenge

Hello my scrappy friends

The October Inspired by Colour challenge at Scrap Plezier is a beauty - black and mustard!

I tackled a canvas for this challenge after seeing many beautiful creations on Instagram and Youtube.

Mine looked so much better, design wise, before I stuck everything down, but you get that sometimes.

All in all I am happy with how it turned out

Lots of cogs, chipboard, metal embellishments, resin embellishments, even a lock and a key - all coloured with lots of different mists to try and create the mustard colour on the black background.

I hope I was able to inspire you all in some small way

Scrap Plezier Reveal

Only a couple of days behind with this reveal at Scrap Plezier

Using A lot of different Kaisercraft collections to prove they are all mix and match :)

The aim of this layout was to show that you can combine a number of Kaisercraft collections to create a cohesive project.

I started with a sheet if Misty Mountains - Light Leaks for the base.  I then took a Kaisercraft 6x6 Stencil - Tribal Collage, and added some Kaisercraft paint to some texture paste to pass through the stencil.

Whilst this was drying I matted my photo in Stargazer - Orbit (B side) and Bow & Arrow - Forest (B side) and also created more layers, and strips, as well as some flags  with Stargazer- Orbit (B side) and gold foiled piece from the 6x6 paper pad, Blue Bay - embossed piece from the paper pad, Chase Rainbows - Doily pattern from paper pad, and Havana Nights - Lush (B side).

I then took a stamp from the Circles set and using black ink randomly stamped on the background.  Once dry I made a watercolour wash with some Kaisercraft paints and painted some of the circles.  I finished by flicking and splattering the paint over the background.

I put my layers together and placed my matted photo on top, finishing with some word strips from a Kaiser sticker book and my title.

I think it definitely proves you can mix your Kaisercraft collections very effectively.

Thanks for dropping by today, I hope you like my layout :)

Off the Rails Scrapbooking Reveal

Hello Friends

My reveal is live on the Off the Rails Scrapbooking blog today.

This month our challenge theme is Recycle/Reuse/Upcycle

I created an Art Journal page using items found around the home.

I rummaged through my kitchen pantry cupboard as well as other hiding places in my home and came up with a collection of items to use:

I also had a paper napkin on my scrapping desk which I treated with some Lindys Stamp Gang Magicals to create a background piece:
And finally decided to use some Food colourings for colour over the top of all my bits and bobs.

I started my gluing my coloured napkin into my journal with Matt Medium.  Whilst it was still wet, I started placing my recycled objects onto the page.  I added more matt medium over the top and set aside to dry
When dry I added a coat of white gesso with a dry brush.
When this was dry, I sprayed some water onto the page and started adding the food colourings.  I sprayed the colours with more water and dried each colour before adding the next.  I finished with a light spray of Dylusions Laid Back Lilac ink spray.

I hope you can join us this month.  It really is amazing what you can find to use on a project.

I am really looking forward to seeing yours!!

Thanks for stopping by today, I really hope you find time in your busy month to join our challenge

Off the Rails August Challenge Reveal

Hello Friends

I am over on the Off The Rails Scrapbooking blog with an Art Journal tutorial featuring the fabulous August challenge.

I have gone with the colour scheme and the geometrics of the tribal theme.

I have used strips of plaster tape (from Hubby's shed) and mixed media tape on the bare page and then sealed the page with clear gesso.  I took a number of Kaisercraft paint tubes in pastel colours and  3 colours of Finnabair Artalchemy Metallique acrylic paints, and using a palette knife smooshed them all over the primed page.

Once dry, I dry brushed a thin layer of white gesso over the paint.  In hindsight I wish I hadnt done that as it took away the gorgeous shimmer of the metallique paints - lesson learned there!

I then took a couple of different stamps, A Fiskars chevron stamp and a Crafter Companion distressed double circle one and using black ink randomly stamped the background.

Once all this was dry I took a Kaisercraft 6x6 Tribal stencil and using Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and Inka Gold in various pastel colours, stencilled merrily all over the page.  I tried to make sure I covered some of the stamping as I felt the black was too visible (another lesson learnt).

To finish off I added my quote and some white ink splatters, and there you have it!
