Sketches in Thyme #326

Sketch #326 is up on the Sketches in Thyme blog along with a marvellous prize to be won for entering any of the May Sketches.

Sketch #326 was designed by our own Bev Code

And my take:
 (somewhat different, and random, lol)

Image may contain: 4 people, people smiling

I went with a white gesso background, topped with purple acrylic paint.   Absolutely love how it turned out, and sort of see the sketch in the layout.  Can you?

Thanks for stopping by today

Scrap Plezier Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends,

I am back again with a Kaisercraft layout created for Scrap Plezier.

Have you seen a collection online that you werent so sure about and thought it wasn’t to your taste?  Well the Kaisercraft Misty Mountains ticked that box for me.  That is, until I saw it in real life.  It is nowhere near as purple as I expected it to be, therefore I used it for this layout of my nephew with his son.

I started by printing the photo in black and white, that helped with matching with the Misty Mountains collection. I used a piece of Light Leaks as the base for the layout.  I then tore 2 strips from a piece of Moody, and also tore a piece of Agate for the top layer. I then cut a piece from Light Leaks and distressed the edges, and also a piece from Moody and distressed all 4 edges of that as well.  I took another piece of Agate and cut a banner in one end, again distressing all edges.  I layered these under the photo and added half a doily.  I rolled some of the corners for dimension.  I added a branding strip from the Factory 42 collection as my title, and cut a saying out of the Divine paper.  I attached some heart stickers from the 12x12 Misty Mountains sticker sheet, added some stickers from one the Kaiser Stationery sticker books and finished off with some Kaisercraft Antique Gold mist splatters.

I love how this layout turned out and proved that what is first considered predominately female colours can be used successfully on a male layout.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I would love to see a layout you have created using the Misty Mountains collection.

Scrap Matrix Guest Designer - The Point Is.....

Hello Scrappy Friends

Thanks for dropping by today.  I have some exciting news.  I was asked by the gorgeous Vicki at Scrap Matrix to return as a Guest Designer for the May challenge.  So, of course I said yes!!

I mean, who wouldn't want the opportunity to create with the gorgeous supplies on offer at Scrap Matrix, right?

The May challenge has the theme:  "The Point Is"  and can be taken however you want it to be.

With this layout I went with the obvious :)
I started with a sheet of paper from the Stamperia Atelier paper pack, and spread a thin layer of Dina Wakely Clear Gesso over it.  I then took the #20 stencil from AALL @ Create and used Finnabair Heavy Black Gesso and Dina Wakely Acrylic Paint in Ruby, in various places on the background.
Once dry, I took the diamonds stamp from the JOYF 34 Paper Artsy stamp set and stamped on the background with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I use the Mini Ink pads for 2 reasons - I dont use a lot of ink, so therefore I can buy more colours if I get the mini's, lol.

I backed the photo of no 1 son tipping in the winning points in the 2017 U22 basketball preliminary final with navy cardstock and then took a piece of paper from the Art Journey 6x6 paper pad by 13 @rts.  I used a notebook edge punch on the paper and placed it under the matted photo on the left hand side.  I also punched a smaller piece for the bottom right hand side.

When I sat the photo onto the page, I wasnt happy with how flat it looked, so too the diamonds stamp and stamped some more onto the remainder of the 13 @arts paper.  I fussy cut the stamp out and used Xpress it foam mounting tape for dimension.

I took an arrow from the Wood Veneer Loving Arrows set and ran the Tim Holtz stamp pad over it.  I also added some arrow words from the Mambi Chips Hey You set.

The title chipboard alphas were from the Alphabet No 1 and again inked with Tim Holtz ink.  I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher as well.

I put the layout together, and thought it was missing something, so after everything was stuck down (!) picked up the diamonds stamp and some black ink and added more stamping.  I finished off with my journalling, which I hadnt actually planned so didnt really fit where I wanted it to.  The final addition was some white dots using a white Sharpie.

Some closeups:

Thank you for stopping by today and checking out my layout.  I hope you gained some inspiration for the challenge!!

Off the Rails Scrapbooking May Challenge

Hello Scrappy Friends,

The May challenge at Off the Rails Scrapbooking is a moodboard which should incorporate a Nature picture.  Get your thinking caps on!!

And my interpretation:

I went with the orange theme, and the idea that water puts out fire, lol.

So, what do you think??

Looking forward to seeing what you create with our challenge

Scrap Plezier April 30 Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

Here is my 3rd layout for Scrap Plezier for April

Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy collection. In case you havent worked it out, I just love this collection.

For this layout I have used the Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy collection and some stickers from one of the many Kaiser Stationery Sticker books.

I decided to use a black and white photo as the colours in the photo were hard to match.

I used a sheet of Plaster Rose for the base. I matted my photo with Blue Fields, then cut a wide strip of Cobalt and B side of Blue Fields and placed vertically under my photo.  I cut a right angle triangle and a 2cm strip from a sheet of Blue Posy.  The triangle was placed in the top left hand corner and the strip went along the bottom.

I used some diecuts from the Collectibles pack, some stickers from the sticker sheet and some flag, banner and word stickers from the sticker book.  I finished with a splatter of gold mist.
