Here is my first layout in the Scrapping Outback My Scraproom Rules comp.

You really cant tell :( but the "O' in the Once upon a springtime has been Kindyglitzed with crystallina, as well as random petals on the homemade flower and on the Megan flower, as well as on the inked chippie flourish.
So, that is my entry. Lets see how I go

Scrapping Outback

My Scraproom Rules first challenge has been posted and is due Sunday. Jules sure has challenged us with a Chop, chop, chop and garnish challenge. Those who know me know that I dont do the fussy cutting of pp's, nor do I make my own flowers so this challenge was sure just that - a challenge. Thanks Jules - I did love every minute of it.

My Scraps Got Talent

Here is a contest for you all:

Please join us for 8 fun weeks of challenges and games, looking for the first "My Scraps" talent star! Starting June 3rd, and each Friday thereafter, a challenge will be issued. You will have until the following Thursday at midnight eastern time, to upload your challenge into the appropriate thread on the forum to continue on in the My Scraps talent search. At the end of the eight weeks, A My Scraps and More Talent star will be rewarded with a box of scrap goodies for sharing their talents! Along with the grand prize winner, someone will be randomly chosen each week among the participants of the challenge, to win a prize as well!

Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop

This weekend for NSD, current and past DT members of Scrapbook Challenges are farewelling the fantastic Pamela with a blog hop.

I applied to join the DT at Scrapbook Challenges back in 2009, and was mighty surprised that I was chosen. I loved the concept of Scrapbook Challenges and I loved working with Pamela and the fabulously talented DT gals there. I served 2 terms but had to resign in the end due to health issues.

I thank Pamela for her support and understanding through this difficult time for me. Thanks Pam for absolutely everything - you are a real treasure xox.

Good morning!! This weeks challenge is a fun one, but can also be hard and a little out of the box for some of us, myself included. This week, we're challenging you to do a page that is All About You!!! We can't wait to "get to know" you a little better. Don't let this challenge scare you, you'll honestly be amazed at what you'll create. I did one last yr and when it was done, I loved it. Enjoy and have fun with this one. New competition

Have you seen this:

Here you will find all the detailed information that you will need to know to participate in our competition. This is THE place to ask any questions


The format:
* My Scraproom Rules is a scrapping competition based on cooking reality TV shows.
* This competition will run for 6 weeks starting on the 16th of May
* Each week one of the DT members will set you a challenge to complete.
* Challenges will be set on Mondays and will be due in the gallery by midnight on the following Sunday night.
* There will be no eliminations in this competition. Winners will be determined by a progressive score count (See scoring below).

Scoring
* Scoring is done by both participants and the Design Team.
* Each week you will be asked to score every other layout out of 10 according to a set criteria. All participant scores for each person will then be averaged to give a weekly participant score. The DT will also each score out of 10. These scores will be added to the participant score to create an overall score out of 50.
* Any participants who do not submit their scores will risk losing their own scores for that week.
* Scores will NOT be posted publically. Only weekly standings will be published. (We wont be giving out scores at all, so please refrain from asking or PMing).
* Prizes may be given for weekly placings.
* The overall winners will be determined by a progressive score across the 6 weeks.
* Bonus points may be granted through out the competition at the discretion of the Design Team. This may include additional challenges, masterclass participation, etc..

Kits
* A MSR product kit will be available for you to purchase for use throughout the competition. This is not compulsory, but is strongly recommended.
* Random kits may include additional incentives such a s surprise points, challenge fast forward passes (advance notice of a challenge), etc.
* Supplies for the challenges are not restricted to these kits. Each challenge will outline the requirements for supplies.

Masterclass
* We are inviting some awesome guest teachers to teach MSR online Masterclasses. Participation is optional, but strongly recommended.

Timeline
* MONDAYS: The host DT member will announce their challenge, and will initiate a chat thread for the week. This is the place to ask questions, or just chat.
* WEDNESDAYS: All participants must submit their scores for the previous week to Trudi by PM by midnight.
* THURSDAYS: Weekly placings and cumulative placings will be posted.
* FRIDAYS (Alternate) Masterclass.
* SUNDAY: All challenge entries due int he correct section of the gallery by midnight..

Scrap that Tune: Use the lyrics of the song "If I was your Mother" by Bon Jovi as inspiration
Scrapping the Girls: Scrap your girl photos from a celebration and as a twist, add flowers onto your layout in 3 or more ways
Trend Watch: use corrugated alphas and/or shapes

Challenge 34 - Easter Theme

This challenge for the Lasting Memories DT search was to scrap an Easter theme - not necessarily Easter photos but it could have been the colours, the eggs, or even ducklings and rabbits :)

I have done a very, very simple layout using a pic of Mitchell from 2006. You may not see it clearly, but he has his hands wrapped firmly around his Easter chocolate, lol, I clearly remember the mess it made.

You don't see Ribbon Candy around too much these days, mostly the sour strips the kids torment their parents with .... but these look so tasty!

Now the extra challenge this fortnight; yep, you guessed it, Ribbons! We want to see how you use ribbons on your project.

Once Upon A Sketch - what a fabulous challenge site with prizes and an awesomely talented design team.

Here is the current challenge:

Your journalling criteria for this challenge is to write the reason you chose to scrap this photo
(e.g. to remember this moment, to remember someone, to send a message to someone, because this photo makes you smile, the photo shows a personal achievement, your child's milestone etc. etc. )

Your journalling can be any type i.e. handwritten, printed etc.. and as long as you wish it to be.

REMEMBER: If you are making a card or altered project you DO NOT need to include the journalling criteria BUT you MUST use a quote somewhere on your card or project.....

On a roll I am :)The Ch{all}enge Masters Recipe challenge was 2 use 3 different pp's - mine from My Minds Eye Meadow Lark range, 2 pics, letter stickers - from Carolees, chipboard - both the title BG Milk Chocolate Chippie Alphas and the chippie buttons and a decorative edge - using my new EK Success punch (which, unfortunately is not all that clear).

Ch{all}enge Masters Stash Challenge

This is my layout for the Ch{all}enge Masters Stash Challenge. The challenge was to use a diecut or printed title on the layout. I fossicked around in the layers of dust in the back of the cupboard and found a this and that tile by My Minds Eye which I felt was totally appropriate. The older my boys get the worse they fight :( so moments like in the pic are few and far between.

The 4 month term for our talented design team ends the end of April, and we are looking for new members to join our Sketches in Thyme design team! If you enjoy creating layouts from sketches, partipating in blogs and motivating others to take part in fantastic challenges, this might be your chance to be a part of our fantastic Design Team! Your term would run May-August, and you would be asked to complete 3 layouts per month. If you would like a chance to be considered, here's what you need to do:

1-Create a new layout based on our sketch below.

2-Post about our DT call on your blog, along with your take on our sketch.

3-Leave a comment here telling us that you would like to be considered for the DT, along with a link to your blog post!

The deadline for this call is April 22nd, and our new Design Team will be announced on April 28th! We look forward to seeing what you come up with!!

Week 4 Chopped Challenge

Yah me - I made it through to the final week of the Ch{All}enge Masters Chopped contest. This week we had to use at least one ingredient from the previous 3 weeks.

I used all of the week 1 ingredients: Lime Green, circles and paint. From week 2 I used Yellow, dimensional flowers and scallops and from week 3 I went with White and cardboard. The only ingredient I didnt use was stitching from week 3.

I absolutely love how this layout turned out, although the pic above does not do it justice :(

The winner of the contest will be announced on Monday (US time), but I doubt it will be me!! However, I have loved this comp for getting me back into scrapping. Thank you Terri :) :) :)

have been doing a bit of blog surfing instead of the washing, lol, and came across this fabby challenge at The Lollipop Ladies:

One of the few desserts that sorts the Masterchefs out from the Wannabechefs! Nothing like a nice, gooey meringue filled biscuit to get you your sugar hit! This fortnight we are looking to macaroons for inspiration.

What pretty colours too. Alrighty, we want you to be inspired by these sweet treats, with the extra challenge of Gloss. Yep, we want to see some gloss on your goodies!

Ch{all}enge Masters Chopped Week 2

Poor Terri couldnt *chop* anyone from week one of the Ch{all}enge Masters competition so everyone made it through to week 2 -phewww.

Week 2 criteria is to use yellow, scallops and dimensional flowers.

Well......as the mother of boys and the aunty of nephews, yellow is not a colour I use a lot esp now that the boys are older and have left primary school, so I hunted hi and lo through my pp scraps and found some I could use.

This is the outcome:


I normally scan my lo's but I really wanted the dimensional flowers to stand out so I took a pic. IRL the lo isnt quite that gold, but I do like it. I embossed the scallop strip and the birdie was inked, coated with Glossy Crackle, and then painted with Mellow Yellow Glimmer Glaze. The doily was inked with Banana Pudding Chalkboard Glimmermist, as were some of the flowers.

Week 2 Chopped Challenge

...is up at Ch{all}enge Masters. As no one was *chopped* this round, we all get to play again. Yah.

This week we have to create a layout using the ingredients: yellow, dimensional flowers and scallops. Hmmmmm, thinking, thinking, and as I am away for the weekend I will have tog et busy early.

Some scrapping...

Wow, it has been so long since I played with paper and double sided tape that I thought I had lost the knack :(

But no, I have managed to finish some challenges from around the traps:

Ch{all}enge Masters March challenges:

Week 2: Colour
The challenge was to use tan, cream - any shades of either of these, and dark blue. I think I got that all covered.

This is an A4 layout for our Home Renovations album. Finally the reno's are finished, sadly the album isnt - but with my new found mojo maybe it will be :)


Week 3: Stash

This challenge was to use 2 or more different types of alphas on a layout. I have used BG chipboard, MM clears and Carolees Tiny alphas. It is the same pic as the first lo, with the same topic but for a different album.

Countrypapercraft Blog challenges:


This layout was done for Mrs Frizz's recipe challenge to use cardstock, pp's and stickers from the same manufacturer, alphas, distressing and sewing.

I have used BG pp's, stickers and alphas.

The pic is my great nephew who was born on October 18.

I have - tonight I have created a double page layout for the Tuesday Challenge to scrap a page on a hobby, sport or obsession. Anyone who knows me, knows what my page will be :) Yep, one of my boys sporting pursuits.

Wow, has it really been this long?

Life has a way of changing a lot of things, and my life has been way too busy for a lot of different reasons *sad face*

Scrapbooking has taken a very far backseat these past months, but as things have settled down at last, I am about to get creative again :)

I have signed up for the Chopped competition at Ch{all}enge Masters, and have almost finished the first challenge, which is to use the colour Lime Green, circles and paint. A nice and easy challenge to start the competition. Thanks Terri :)

Black with 2 is being relaunched in April and Eve is currently on the look out for a Design Team - applications close Saturday 19 March - you better hurry and get those applications in.

Of course, if you are looking for some inspiration, go and check out Color Combos Galore, and even attempt the colour challenges there - I will be doing #183 very soon.
