Sunny Day Crafting

Hello Scrappy Friends

My final project for this term at Sunny Day Crafting is live on the blog.  The challenge this week was Z = Zebra, and I found this gorgeous sticker on a Kaisercraft sticker sheet from an old collection - Party Animals.  He is so cute, I just had to fussy cut him and use him :)

I made a card, a very simple card at that!  I used a Martha Stewart doily as the base, added some stickers, enamel dots and a wood veneer butterfly, and embossed my sentiment with Lindy's Stamp Gang  Purely White embossing powder.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Janis for having me on the DT at Sunny Day Crafting for this term and urge you all to check out the weekly challenges which are loaded each Wednesday

thanks for stopping by today - please let me know what you think :)

I will be back later in the week with a reveal for Scrap Plezier..

Off the Rails Scrapbooking

Hello Scrappy Friends

I am up with a Art Journal Tutorial on Off the Rails Scrapbooking today, using some pages from an old telephone book!
I have saved our old phonebook from the recyclers as I am tempted to make it into an art journal, but I have yet to make a start on that.  So...in the mean time, I have decided to use some of the pages in my art journal.

I gathered my supplies:  Gel Medium, Dylusions Ink Spray, White Gesso, Hero Arts Black Ink, Hero Arts Rubber stamp - Number Pattern, Crackled Texture Paste, Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture paste and Kaisercraft Script stencil, along with enough torn strips from the phone book to cover the art journal page.

I took the torn strips and glued them onto the page using the Gel Medium.  I then gessoed the page to protect it from the wet medium to come.  I took some more phone book pages and randomly stamped on the edges of those, using a piece of watercolour paper as a craft mat.  I wanted to use the paper to punch some circles, and I wanted the random numbers stamped on the paper.  I then tore the stamped phone book pages into various sized strips, and punched different sized circles from the watercolour paper.

Next I laid the stamped strips vertically and horizontally in the top left and bottom right corners of my journal page, again gluing them down with Gel Medium.  I then added the various sized circles.

When all this was dry, I clamped the Kaisercraft stencil to my page and used the Crackled Texture paste, randomly through the stencil, and then went over that in places with the Sparkle Texture Paste

The fun starts when the texture pastes are dry.  Add your wet medium,  I used Dylusions Ink Spray in Vibrant Turquoise sprayed water to get the ink running.  Continue until you are happy with the result.  When dry, I added some ink splatters and some circles made with the ink spray lid dipped in the ink, and finish off with some word or phrase stickers.

Doesn't the vibrant colour really look great with the crackled and sparkle paste?

The finished project:

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  See you all next time

Scrap Plezier Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

I am up on the Scrap Plezier blog with my first reveal for December, using the yummy Kaisercraft Mint Wishes mixed with some of the Frosted range.

I took a sheet of Gallery from the Keepsake Collection and using the B side, I spread white gesso onto the layout, taking it almost to all edges.  Once dry I used some Kaisercraft paint in Spearmint and Antique White, and squirted some into the middle of the layout, and taking a rewards card I spread it out towards the edges.  The Spearmint was not quite the colour I was after so when dry, I went over it with the Antique White again.  When this was dry, I watered down the paints and splattered them around the background.  When dry I also splattered some Kaiser Mist in Antique Gold and Apple.  To create more layers on the background, I took Kaisercraft Script stamp, and using black ink, I inked all around the painted section.

Whilst waiting for this to dry, I stated matting my photo.  I took several 6x6 sheets from both the Frosted and Mint Wishes paper pads, and layered then under the photo.  When the background was totally dry I adhered the photo mat.

To finish off the layout, I took some diecuts from both collections and placed in position, then added the title, which I outlined with white gel pen.  Finally I placed some Liquid Pearls in White Opal and Mint Green amongst the splatters and glued on some tiny sequin stars from my stash.

You like?

Scrap Plezier Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

I am a day or two late with my reveal for Scrap Plezier

I have created a layout with Kaisercraft Mint Wishes. I love, love, love this collection. It is not only a Christmas collection but a combination of mint and woodgrain that can be used all year round.

I started with a sheet of Cabin for the base and using the pachaging technique smooshed some watercolor on the paper. Whilst waiting for this to dry I took a sheet of Flannette and cut the bottom off, just above the floral corner arrangement. I then came up with the idea of using a Snow Marker pen to trace over the 'Tis the season' sentiment to create a raised title that looks and feels like snow.I then went to the 6x6 paper pad and took out a couple of patterns. I cut a piece of Fresh Pine and used the B side to create a photo mat. I added a piece of Kaisercraft lace from the Lace Pack. I then used some of the diecuts from the Collectibles pack and the 6x6 paper pad to finish off the layout.

I am looking forward to Christmas Day and a family photo to place on the layout.

Thanks for stopping by today - what do you think?

Scrap Matrix Guest Designer Reveal

Hello Scrappy Friends

My second layout as a Guest Designer for Scrap Matrix is up on the blog.

Hello Scrap Matrix Friends, Deb here with my second layout featuring the fabulous 7 Dots Studio Dreamscapes. Even after this layout I still have plenty of product left to keep creating with.

I started with a black and white photo of my hubby taken on our Sydney Harbour lunch cruise in May. Although it was a tad overcast and a bit windy, it was still an enjoyable afternoon cruising around Sydney Harbour, and with a window seat to boot!
Anyhow, onto my layout.
I used a piece of 7 Dots Studio Dreamscapes Twinkle as my base. I then cut 2 strips each from the 9mm and Sunrise papers.
I took some tags from the 12x12 Tag sheet, and some of the diecuts from the Elements 6x12 sheet and edged all of these with my Dylusions Black Marble Paint pen. On a side note, if anyone has any tips on how to keep the paint flowing nicely through this pen please let me know! I added some pearl brads onto the tags.
I cut 2 seed heads from the FabScraps Botanic Flowers chipboard set, and using my Prima Metallic Accent Semi Watercolour paints (Supernova) I painted the seed heads as well as my title alpha’s taken from the Alphabet #1 set. When dry I used the paint pen to add detail to the seed heads, to make then stand out a bit from the background.
I cut down the sheet of Sunrise (B side), and outlined this as well. Before adhering to the background piece, I wound the cotton string, Renaissance Black German embossed trim, and a piece of washi from my stash across the middle of the Sunrise paper. I then splashed to my hearts content the Prima Supernova and black paint pen.

When I was happy with the details on the background, I started to assemble my layout.

It came together quite easily – for me When I had the elements in place to my liking on the background, I placed some craft foam under my photo and adhered it to the background. From there I added the seed heads and title alphas, along with some of the absolutely yummy Ayeeda Gold Glitter Ink and…my layout was complete.

Here are some close-ups:

Why not head on over to the blog and check out what the regular extraordinarily talented gals did with the 7 Dots challenge.

You will be amazed!!

Thanks for stopping by today, please let me know what you think
